| Bio: | Many stories have surfaced about the mysterious origins of Doc Muscle. Here is one such tale: Born ten days later than his more popular cousin Kal, the baby that would grow up to become Doc Muscle was fated to become a mighty hero from infancy. One day, he was placed in the care of the Els by his parents, who had tickets to see the annual Thought-Beast mating ritual in the Scarlet Jungle. Young Doc, uninterested in his older cousin's frolics with the family dog, wandered into his uncle's laboratory, and ingested an experimental dark, carbonated liquid that contained an extra terrestrial caffeine-like substance. This caused the child's metabolism to change drastically, the complete effects of which would only reveal themselves in dramatic fashion, several years hence. Queasy, the child sought a quiet place to lie down, and crawled into a cargo hatch on the side of his uncle's experimental spacecraft. As the hatch closed behind him, it somehow became stuck, and the unconscious lad was trapped, unbeknownst to him. Before the Els could begin to search for the wayward child, the entire planet shook with violent earthquakes, and the lad was forgotten. The Els placed their own son in the very same spacecraft where the sleeping boy lay, and set the rocket on a course for Earth, as their planet destroyed itself. Landing in a cornfield, the rocket was found by a kindly couple who adopted young Kal and hid the craft in their barn, unaware of the second hapless passenger it contained. It lay there for many days, its tiny bundle mercifully unconscious. It emanated some of the radiation it had absorbed from its doomed planet, not enough to affect the larger creatures, but enough to change one tiny spider. The hatch door, having loosened upon impact, opened completely when the unconscious child awoke.Oblivious to the events which had transpired the lad toddled out into the barn. Due to the consumption of the mysterious liquid, the child did not manifest any remarkable abilities like his famous cousin did. This explains how he was able to sustain a terrible bite from the irradiated spider in the barn. This bite wreaked further havoc upon his already chaotic metabolism, and the child wandered out of the barn in a daze. The intervening years for this child remain a mystery. Suffice it to say, that he grew up and somehow acclimated himself to life on Earth, believing himself to be an adult earthman of greater than average size, but no particular superhuman abilities. His first moment of triumph occurred when his city was besieged by an alien menace, and there were no superhumans to fend it off. Dodging the alien’s ray blasts, and trying not to get trampled by the hysterical crowd, our hero-to-be quickly tired himself out, and bought a cola from a vending machine. At the precise moment that he swallowed a huge gulp of the caffeinated liquid, he was simultaneously struck by an alien ray beam, and a freak lightning bolt from the sky! This caused all sorts of freakish changes in our man, giving him incredible powers! (Like you didn’t see that one coming) Realizing that at last, his destiny was upon him, our hero struck back against the alien menace, smiting it with his mighty muscles and savage bolts of electricity. Across downtown was heard the hero’s battle cry: “SUCK MY THUNDER!” The battle cry of the man the world would soon come to know as DOC MUSCLE! | |||||||
